Beating the Heat...

Today our new air conditioning unit was installed. Although not my first choice of things to do today, I suppose it was well worth it to devote 5 hrs of my day off to have it installed. Our old unit had seen better days and was performing very poorly. We have had many extremely hot days lately,  and our air conditioner was super struggling. We changed the setting higher to help it out, cut back the bushes around the unit for better air circulation, installed a new ceiling fan in our bedroom and got a fan for Bentley, but in the end it just wasn't enough. It had begun to make strange noises when it shut off and despite the higher temperature setting it was still getting warmer inside than the setting should have allowed. Needless to say our power bill the past few months has been monstrous and Gary hasn't allowed me a cuddle in the same amount of time. Double negative which does not make a positive. And let me tell you, the extra days I have put in "at the office" for some extra money were not supposed to be for a new AC unit! But, as I hear it, that is one of the beauties of owning a home....

We purchased our new unit through Sears and two men came to the house to install it. If anyone is in the same boat we are this summer, we were pretty satisfied with them in terms of price, timeliness, and customer service. The technicians arrived when they were scheduled to, completed their work, and were courteous. The new unit was up and running before I knew it. They showed me the changes, I signed some papers, and off they went.

That is pretty much the whole of my day...

Bentley's Corner...

There is a little corner in our house that fits Bentley's crate as if it were uniquely created for that sole purpose. It has a perfect view of the family room so he can still see us when he has to be in his crate, and he can still see the front door so he can warn us of any intruders! :) Anyway, until today Bentley's corner has been kinda drab. Crate only. Well today is the day it has officially become "dog central." I have decided it will be the perfect place to display photos of our growing pup, and of course to remember Copper. It will kind of be a growing project, so as we get more pictures we will put them up in a sort of collage of frames. The pictures on the wall already make Bentley's corner seem more "homey" and flow well into the family room.
Yes, that is Bentley's personal fan.... spoiled? Yes, but we do have a AC unit of questionable efficiency. New AC unit coming... a blog for another day...

That is all....
