getting to know our new home

Being new to Maryland, Gary and I have been trying to get out and see what surrounds us. Mostly what we find is water! With the Potomac River west of us and the Chesapeake Bay to the east, we couldn't feel more at home. Last weekend we traveled to Chesapeake beach and North Beach. We thought we were headed for a day of fun in the bay, maybe lay out some towels and swim, but what we found was a small man made beach area that you had to pay to use. Since it was already full we took in the sites, admired the large fishing boats available for charter, hit some antique stores, and of course had some ice cream. We packed it in early, but had a good time.

Yesterday we were able to get out on the river with one of Gary's friends from work. A fishing trip. We put the boat in up the creek at a public park in Indian Head. It was so pretty, the water, the long green grass, and birds galore! Not so lucky on the fishing end... we didn't catch anything, but it was a lot of fun so we will definitely be going back out soon.
